About JROTC
The JROTC program as a whole was created in 1916 with the signing of the National Defense Act under former president Woodrow Wilson. Since it's inception, JROTC has transformed the lives of many young citizens through instilling Army Values and leadership skills. In addition to providing core Army Values, it prepares young cadets for the future, providing a firm foundation for a future career in many leadership roles and positions as well as giving cadets a solid understanding of essential life skills that they will use far beyond school and work.

In JROTC, (like with traditional military branches), there exists 5 main branches: Army JROTC, Navy JROTC, Air Force JROTC, Marine Corps JROTC, and Coast Guard JROTC. In each of these branches, the curriculum is tailored to the core values of the branch itself. At Wake Forest High School, we offer the Army JROTC curriculum as opposed to any other JROTC curriculum. Since 2002, the Cougar Battalion has grown to be almost 100 cadets in size, and we will continue to grow. JROTC is an excellent class that will teach young people to become better citizens.
